Summer Textile Exploration Program

Make cool things in our labs and studios while living on campus!

The Summer Textile Exploration Program (STEP) at the Wilson College of Textiles at NC State University consists of five one-week sessions for rising high school seniors interested in learning about fashion, engineering, chemistry, design, marketing and the textile industry.

STEP participants live on NC State’s campus, complete a project related to their area of interest in our studios and labs, and attend sessions to learn more about:

  • The five bachelor’s degrees in the Wilson College of Textiles:
    • fashion and textile design
    • fashion and textile management
    • polymer and color chemistry
    • textile engineering
    • textile technology
  • The college application process.
  • Wilson College of Textiles scholarships.
  • Internship and job opportunities available to Wilson College students.

Up to 35 participants per week are chosen based on their academic success, interest in the college and extracurricular activities.
